Grass Stains 2024: Holding on and Letting go are work too
Grass Stains is a site-specific initiative created by Pioneer Winter that focuses on pairing mentoring with creative process in order to perpetuate site-specific, site-adaptive, and public art works that live outside the boundaries of a traditional space or commission.
For the 2024 iteration of Grass Stains, I produced a sound piece that accompanied a durational performance. For “Holding on and Letting Go are work too” I aimed to physicalize my practice in a way that allowed my mark making to read like kinetic notations. This presented an opportunity for me to explore my curiosity around graphic representations of movement, informed largely by my history as a basketball player, within the context of contemporary dance.
